From Wood to Digital Type
uena is the first word I read on a letterpress paper, printed by my friend Wolfgang Wick (you see him in the picture printing the original punches). I was fascinated by the power of this fat wooden letters at first glance. So I started to create a digital version of it and »Buena Black« was born.
But the original punches had only uppercase glyphs and therefore I created the lowercase characters. After that, it was time to design the family...
